Independent Theatre Council

2024 = 2027 Rate of pay

Ensuring fair and equitable compensation for all members of our team, particularly those from the Black and global majority communities, is paramount. The evidence speaks volumes: within our community, individuals often find themselves working for free, trapped in zero-hour contracts, or facing substantial wage disparities. In our society, where many lack the familial resources and networks that typically facilitate funding and opportunities, these disparities are particularly pronounced.

Our commitment to paying Black and Brown freelance workers reflects our dedication to addressing these inequities. We firmly believe that no artist or expert should work for free, and our funding strategies will prioritise the needs of racialised artists & go over and above the ITC rates of pay as soon as funding is awarded, ensuring that their contributions are recognised and compensated fairly. While volunteers are welcome, particularly those beginning their journey with TO Scotland, we will ensure that all travel and expenses are considered and included in our funding strategies, further emphasising our commitment to decolonisation and equity.
